Well, here's the final model I had to make in my Architecture 101 class. It's supposed to be a house that hangs from a wire, has three wings, and is supposed to rotate in the wind. My instructor called it a propellor house.

This little monster took forever to make; it took over 20 hours to put together. I had to do some very stupid things while I made it, which made it take forever. I just had some real bad luck with it; even when I took these pictures, I didn't realize I was standing in dog crap!

It did get chosen to be put up in the school of architecture (thank god!), but I hope that it doesn't fall apart while it's hanging in there.

See yah! :flirty: <---this thing is still adorable! I wish I knew where the bigger version is.

hey this is sweet, i love it! The concept is awesome but how could you suspend the house for real? its a shame its so impractical, but it looks great! great work!

Thanks! :D

I didn't come up with the concept (the instructor did), but you could probably suspend it in a canyon or something (maybe use the cables they use on bridges?). This part sounds impractical, but you can slide down one of the cables to get to the entrance in the center of the top and that is where an elevator would be (at least I made a hint of one). I don't know about water and such though. ^^; The instructor had a crazy idea where it should spin in the wind or something! He even had an idea where we would make a house that floats on the duck pond at our school, but he never went through with it. He had some creative ideas, but he was very random! :lol:

Random indeed, the floating house sounds more probable then suspending a house, it would be pretty hard to get a secure connection between the canyon and the wires, the wires wouldn't be the problem, i think the actual connection would be harder (forget the spinning i think it would just fall down!). But maybe one day in the future we'll have jet packs and elevators will become obsolete! I think you should have gone with floating house designs, a little easier and more realistic, (maybe next time though) global warming is creeping up on us! haha

Cool... Its a creative idea, and a good solution to the problem...

Now that is a year latter and presumably another year into your program do you still thin 20hrs is a long time??? :)

Thanks! :D

I'm afraid I didn't go into architecture (I wish I did when I had the chance). Maybe it'll happen later; I'm only 21.

But now that I think about it, 20 hrs wasn't too long when I saw the finished product; it was all worth it. It was great to see how my ideas came together to make this and I never made anything like it, so it was pretty cool to know I could make something like this. I wish I got it back, though! :cries:

Thanks! I didn't come up the propeller idea, I just did the design. ^^;

*mumbles* but that bastard teacher never gave this model back to me! :pissed:
